Superintendent – Industrial / Warehouse Construction (Design-Build)

Location: Chicagoland / Rosemont, IL

Project Types: Industrial, Warehouse, Distribution Centers, Light Manufacturing, Cold Storage (Design-Build)

Position Overview

Our client is a well-established design-build general contractor seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations on ground-up and large-scale industrial and warehouse projects throughout the Chicagoland area. This role is responsible for managing all on-site construction activities, driving schedules, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring successful project delivery from mobilization through turnover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily on-site construction activities for industrial and warehouse facilities , including ground-up builds and expansions

  • Lead and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and field staff

  • Develop, maintain, and execute detailed project schedules; manage critical path activities

  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA, site-specific, and company standards

  • Conduct daily site walks, toolbox talks, and safety meetings

  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and submittals

  • Manage site logistics, sequencing, manpower, and material deliveries

  • Ensure quality control across structural, envelope, slab, MEP, and specialty industrial scopes

  • Coordinate with Project Managers, design teams, and ownership to resolve field issues

  • Track progress, productivity, and reporting for schedule and cost control

  • Lead inspections, punch lists, commissioning coordination, and final closeout

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent on industrial, warehouse, or distribution center projects

  • Strong design-build project experience preferred

  • Proven experience managing large footprints, tilt-up or precast concrete, slab-on-grade, and complex MEP systems

  • Deep understanding of industrial construction means and methods

  • Ability to lead multiple subcontractor trades and large field crews

  • Strong scheduling, planning, and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications

  • Experience with construction technology (Procore or similar platforms preferred)

  • OSHA certification required or preferred
